Change in Drivers License Service
Mar 14th, 2013
Beginning Friday, March 15, 2013, there will no longer be counter services offered for ANY type of TN Driver License transactions at our office. However, we are delighted to announce the installation of a self-service kiosk for TN driver license duplicates and renewals only.
The kiosk is very efficient, user friendly, will take your photo, and direct you from start to finish. You can usually complete your total transaction within a few minutes, at which time you will be issued a valid but temporary, paper license and receipt. The TN Dept. of Safety will then mail your new plastic license or I.D.
The kiosk is limited to replacing or renewing your class D or class M license, or updating basic information such as your address. It only accepts debit and credit cards as payment and is currently located ONLY at our Main Office at 700 2nd Ave South, Suite 101, Nashville, TN 37210.
South Satellite Office Converted to Express Location
Dec 3rd, 2012
Effective December 3, 2012, the Davidson County Clerk’s Office will convert the South branch, housed in the South Police Precinct, to an express location. By processing registration renewals and disabled placard renewals only, the conversion will allow the office to expedite transactions and serve the public more efficiently.
The South branch processes approximately 9000 transactions per month, 80% of which are registration renewals. The remaining transactions are more complex and cause delays for other customers simply needing a decal. By transferring all other motor vehicle services to the Main Office at 700 2nd Avenue South and to the office’s four other branches, the express location will improve efficiencies and result in reduced wait times.
“Shifting services to assist the residents of South Nashville in a more expedited manner will not only improve the flow of traffic at the branch, but will also be better suited for the space we utilize at the South Police Precinct,” said Davidson County Clerk Brenda Wynn.
The South Police Precinct is located at 5101 Harding Place and the hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For customers who require other motor vehicle services, the Main Office is easily accessible and located within 8 miles of the South Precinct.
