Registration Renewal Reminder Postcard

Starting in January 2021, the TN Department of Revenue will send postcards to motor vehicle registrants to remind them of upcoming renewal dates. The postcards will replace traditional letters and will reduce state mailing expenses by an estimated $500,000.

Driver License Information

    • The County Clerk’s Office does not issue driver licenses.
    • A self-service kiosk, located in our main office, is available for customers with an existing TN driver license or TN ID.
    • The kiosk is limited to replacing or renewing your class D or class M license.
    • The kiosk will take your new photo and only accepts debit and credit cards as payment.
    • You will be issued a valid but temporary, paper license and receipt. The TN Dept. of Safety will then mail your new plastic license or I.D.
    • For new to state, REAL ID, CDL (Commercial Driver License), Skills Test, Handgun Permit, and Driving Records (MVR) visit the TN Department of Safety website.
South Satellite Office to Convert to Full Motor Vehicle Title & Registration Services

Effective January 2019, the Davidson County Clerk’s Office will convert the South branch, housed in the South Police Precinct, to a full title & registration service location. Previously, the South Branch Express Location only issued Vehicle Registration Renewals and Disabled Placards. The South Police Precinct is located at 5101 Harding Place and the hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
